Cycletide deleting your data
Cycletide is not available yet. This is the pre-release version of this document: it describes the app as it is built today, and it will be finalised before the app is released.
Cycletide has no accounts. Almost everything you record stays on your phone, so you delete it on your phone. Here is how to remove each kind of information.
Data Stored on Your Phone
All cycle logs, symptoms, pregnancy trackers, personal notes, and app settings reside exclusively on your device within an encrypted database.
- Delete All Data: Navigate to Settings → Privacy Center → Delete all data and type
DELETEto confirm. If you are online, this action also instantly deletes your encrypted cloud backup and terminates active partner sharing. - Delete Specific Records: Go to Settings → Privacy Center → Review and delete single records to remove individual entries.
- Uninstalling the app deletes its records from your phone. On iPhone, the app's private settings in the iOS Keychain (such as your purchase record) can stay on the phone after you delete the app; they contain no health records.
Encrypted Backup (If You Turned It On)
In the app: Settings → Privacy Center → Encrypted backup → Turn off and delete cloud backup. Delete all data does the same. If Delete all data could not reach our server (for example, you were offline), Encrypted backup then shows Delete cloud backup, so you can delete it once you are online.
We cannot read your backup, and we store it without your name or email. If you no longer have your phone or your recovery key, we cannot tell which backup is yours, and nobody can read it. A backup that has not been updated for 24 months is deleted automatically.
On iPhone, the key to your backup stays on the phone even if you delete Cycletide. If you install it again, Encrypted backup offers Restore this backup and Delete cloud backup.
Partner Sharing (If You Used It)
- If you share: tap Stop sharing on the Partner sharing screen. The summary is deleted from our server straight away.
- If you view someone's summary: tap Stop viewing. Your access and the copy on our server are removed.
- A shared summary that has not been updated for 90 days (for example, because the app was uninstalled) is deleted automatically.
- On iPhone, if you delete Cycletide and install it again, your sharing and viewing from before end the first time the app opens, and the summary is deleted from our server.
Purchases and the Free Preview
Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. To see or delete your purchase history, use your Apple or Google account settings. We keep only a one-way hash of the transaction identifier and the result of checking it, with no health information, and delete them automatically after 24 months.
To stop the free preview being restarted, Cycletide may keep a one-way hash of an app-specific device identifier (Android) or ask Apple to mark the device (iPhone). This contains no health information and cannot be linked to your name. The hash is deleted automatically 24 months after the preview started.
